Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

The clouds have been with us for the past three days making sight casting at reds a bit difficult. But it does make for a pleasant day lowering the temperatures. Today I had Jeff Stalinga, Mark and his son Jake out for a half day. The clouds were with us all day so I decided the best bet would be to blind cast pearl slam’Rs. With this bait you can cover a lot of ground on a drift. They crew caught over twenty fish including four nice trout and many reds in the upper slot size. We did manage to catch a few of the reds sight casting with shrimp.
Earlier in the week I had Steve out and he caught a few reds over forty inches. The bigger fish were not that cooperative this week, but Renee Nellis managed to take a forty plus inch red. Her casting abilities paid off making her first cast of the day a perfect one. She took plenty of fish sight casting through out the day. There are lady fish, jacks and a tarpon or two in the river. The water in the Lagoon has come up about eight inches since last week, not quite the normal level but better.
Remember: Think like a fish to catch fish.
