Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

The winds have been blowing hard moving fish around and putting oxygen in the water. This past week spite all the wind the fishing has been awesome on most of these days. Reds have been tailing up looking in the grass as they comb the flat. If you are sight casting you know this is a catch able fish and a perfect presentation will do the trick. Make sure you change your color of the Gulp bait if you get denied. Last week in a tournament they would not touch the colors they ate the days before. We changed color six times until they reacted positively. I went through all my favorites and then bam, molting Gulp shrimp color worked. So that is what we use the remainder of the day. A few days later they were eating a variety of colors just as usual. The trout bite was a little slow this week we caught a few each day but no gators. We chucked top water plugs early a few days this week and produced a few trout but we caught more reds on the surface.
Ladyfish and jacks are pushing finger mullet schools out of their scales. Toss a Gulp pogy in pearl or a similar color and work it through the schools of bait. Snook can be caught around the bridges in the north Indian River on finger mullet and jigging on the bottom. You will see tarpon in the same location rolling in the shadows of the light at night. Ladyfish make a good offering to these silver kings but a mullet will work just fine as well. For guaranteed flats fishing trips call me at 386 314 5656
