Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

The weather has been beautiful this week with sunny skies and a light wind. The water is clear and cool and the fishing is HOT. The redfish have been eating shrimp like candy. Then again if you had about 200 plus school members wanting to eat the same shrimp you better be quick. We have been fishing schools of reds from 20 to 300. Some schools are calm and some are spooky.
Gary and Susie Duke fished with me this past week and landed twenty-five reds to thirty-one inches. The next trip I had Paul and Kevin out in The Mosquito Lagoon and they caught fifteen reds five trout and one flounder. These fish were caught on our half-day trips. The trout were taken on 12 Fathom slam’Rs in mean green color. I had a cancellation and took a friend out for a couple hours for trout. It was Jim’s birthday and he requested trout for the menu. We caught fifteen trout to four pounds in two hours on slam’Rs.
The Indian River has been giving up its share of species. That includes ladyfish, jacks, trout, mangrove snapper, pompano, black drum, reds and some snook. Remember to line up your moon and tide for best success.
Remember: Think like a fish to catch fish.
