Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

I have had a full week of guide trips with two half days each day since my last report. The continuing warm up is now evolving into a taste of more great fishing that is to come in upcoming weeks!
I am heading out in the dark each morning now to net the "white bait" that has moved in and is so plentiful now. I have found plenty of snook eager to eat them up on several trips with clients catching as many as 20 snook ranging to 25 inches.
We have also enjoyed a full spectrum of other species including some large trout in the 18 to 21 inch range, pompano, mackerel and redfish as well as some hefty bull sharks to 7 ft. and several blacktip sharks.
Tarpon are in the area now and we made attempts on two trips this week, but had no luck. They are showing up in the larger shallow bays, which is where we are also encountering the shark action.
Today, 2/25 I fished for the second time this week with Bill Palmer and his son Dave. The two boated at least 20 snook in the first two hours as well as plenty of scrappy jack crevalle, trout, spanish mackerel, pompano and blacktip sharks throughout the day. Here is a picture of Dave with one of the snook caught during the morning blitz...
