The bite continues to get stronger

Capt. Michael Avinon

Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing in Naples just continues to get better and better each day.The bait is starting to show in good numbers and so are the fish. The kings are finally here in good numbers and eating everything in sight. On the half day a limit of kings is not a problem and on some spots the hard part is getting to the bottom without a cutoff. The grouper fishing just gets better each and every day.The gags are really starting to bite, probably getting ready to make a move and the red groupers are starting to come out of hybernation mode.Since my last report we have had some good trips but today we had a great one.We started of red grouper fishing in 80 ft water. After six drops we had 8 keeper reds. Then we made a move to a wreck for the rest of the day and proceeded to slam em.We ended up keepin two amberjacks one 30 pd cobia and 6 gags up to 16 pds plus we released a couple of jewfish and small amberjacks.

Naples Fishing Forecast:

Live chumming with pilchards is the way to go right now.It doesnt matter what your fishing for they all respond to the chum.In the past few days we have had kings boiling at the stern on one spot and amberjacks and mangroves on another. It only gets better fishing everyday from here on until hurricane season. If youve ever wanted to pull on something strong and big with light tackle or a fly rod now is the time.

More Fishing Reports:

I have been operating out of Naples for over twenty years and have the spots to prove it.With a range of over 400 miles and the speed to get there quickly the options are endless. We are consistently one of the top producing boats in sw florida, stop by the city dock and see for yourself.
