fishing is good

Capt. Michael Avinon

Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

We havent fished much the last couple of weeks due to bad weather and a lack of trips but when we have the fishing is good.We ran a full day yesterday and had a limit of gag grouper up to 30" and 5 amberjacks up to 50pds.The bite was slow for the better part of the day but persistence payed off and on our last two drops of the day we caught what we needed. The water has looked like a milkshake the last week or so and probably wont clear for another 3 or 4 days with more north wind today, pilchards have not been around but probably will start to show up once everything settles.I ran a bay trip a few days ago and caught about 20 small redfish, some ladyfish, and a few trout and 2 small snook. This will probably be the pattern until we see some warmer temps with trout and pompano being the prevelant catch.

Naples Fishing Forecast:

The amberjacks are starting to show up and before the cold the red grouper fishing was the best Ive seen in 18 years of fishing the gulf coast. If the weather gets warm as the weatherman has predicted january should be great month for fishing for red grouper and amberjacks with snappers mixed in.In the backwater pompano and trout should really start to bite with a redfish or two mixed in.

More Fishing Reports:

I have been operating out of Naples for over twenty years and have the spots to prove it.With a range of over 400 miles and the speed to get there quickly the options are endless. We are consistently one of the top producing boats in sw florida, stop by the city dock and see for yourself.
