Gags everywhere

Capt. Michael Avinon
February 9, 2011
Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well as if anyone hasnt noticed the gag groupers have moved into the area. You cant catch a snapper right now without pullin on a few gags.Remember these are our fish for next year and the year after so a quick release is the best and if you can, dont lift the fish out of the water releasing them at the side of the boat instead. We have been catching our limit of snappers on every full day along with a few amberjacks. In the backwater the bite stayed good even with muddy water and low tides,I fished a half day in the back tues. and caught redfish and snook to 20" along with a lot of mangrove snappers and ladyfish.Seems as though the warm water has everything getting hungry the last few days.

Naples Fishing Forecast:

Kingfish should start making there way into town in the next couple of weeks.I dont know yet if they will show up inshore or offshore first but I have heard of some fish about 50 miles from gordon pass. This along with weaker fronts could set up some really fun fishing at the end of the month.

More Fishing Reports:

I have been operating out of Naples for over twenty years and have the spots to prove it.With a range of over 400 miles and the speed to get there quickly the options are endless. We are consistently one of the top producing boats in sw florida, stop by the city dock and see for yourself.
