Naples Beach Snook Report(The action is heating up!)

Jennifer Wolter
April 14, 2012
Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

This is the time of the year when the snook start moving out along the beaches from the backwaters and the bays due to more favorable Gulf temps. Snook are seen cruising the trough lines along the beaches when the water temps warm up into the high 70's. Bait is plentiful all up and down Naples beaches right now. Schools of snook are feeding on glass minnows and small whitebaits. The beach snook are ranging anywhere between 18"-24" with an occasional 28"-30". We've been sightcasting to schools of cruising snook using 7wt fly rods and small white flies which emulate the glass minnows as well as jerkbaits rigged on 20lb fluoro leader on a medium/light weight spinning rod. It's only going to get better as the summer months quickly approach.
