Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report
The seasons are changing and the fishing has really picked up since the cooler weather has arrived. The pilchards are very easy to net in 15ft of water or on the beaches. Snook fishing is the best its been all year for me, with some really nice fish. Tuesday I fished out of Estero and it was a little slow, high winds, cold water and extremely low tides made it tough to find water to fish. We did manage a nice 27"redfish, bluefish and a bunch of small gags to 20". Wednesday I was back down in Naples and the fishing was amazing. I sat in one pass for almost two hours and my two anglers caught around 40 snook to 27". The fish were on fire and were not letting many pilchards get by them. Once I left to fish some deeper shorelines the snook still were eating good and we caught another 20 to 32". Friday I again fished Naples with my great angler and client Tom and the pass didn't let us down. He caught 20 snook in about an hours time to 26". We left them biting to try and find some redfish and trout. The snook and snapper weren't gonna let this happen as they were eating most pilchards cast tightly to the mangroves. Tom caught a bunch of snook to 30" and snapper along with ladyfish and jacks.
Naples Fishing Forecast:
The water temp is now in the mid 70's and the fish are loving it. Its a great time to fish the backwaters or inshore wrecks. Snook, redfish, trout, bonita, kingfish and cobia are all here for the taking. There are still some tarpon around and with the temps on the rise this week we should get a few more shots at them.
Target Species:
Snook,redfish,trout
