Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

This week we got a chance to do something we don't get to do very often. On Thursday we fueled up the boat and ran ~50 miles offshore to a wreck sitting in 110' of water. When we pulled up to the waypoint the sonar lit up from top to bottom; we pulled out our jigging rods with butterfly jigs and the first drop we were instantly hooked up. Line peeled off the reels and many jigs were lost as we proceeded to pull in Amberjack until our arms were ready to fall off. We attempted to snapper fish over the wreck, but everyone that we hooked was grabbed by an Amberjack, Barracuda, or Goliath Grouper. On the way in we fished a natural ledge in ~67 feet of water and proceeded to catch 3 keeper red grouper and 1 gag grouper before we ran out of time and daylight! We ended up being on the water for 14 hours in total Thursday! Its always nice to have friends willing to chip in for fuel when you make those kind of runs and don't have clients onboard!
