Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

Although a pretty strong early season cold front put a little damper on the fishing last weekend, by Tuesday afternoon, things calmed down and the fishing really turned on.
Snook, redfish and pompano were the staple through the week along with a run of big jack crevalle filling in the gaps and keeping my anglers busy!
Wednesday afternoon, I fished with regular clients Tom, Jaye and Dan. The guys wore our the snook, boating over 35 fish to 30 inches in four hours. They also mixed in some nice slot redfish and too many big jacks to count. Live sardines and accurate casts along the mangroves on a full moon high tide were the key to success.
Pompano are now here in great numbers and right on schedule for this time of year. My half day trip on Saturday morning found the usual snook and redfish, but we also move to a channel edge outside Capri Pass and jigged up a nice mess of pompano without too much effort. Surgical tube jigs bumped along the bottom as we drifted produced a plenty of action. The pompano usually make an appearance this time of year and continue throughout the next 5 months. They are among our finest table fish.
Naples Fishing Forecast:

More good pompano fishing to come. I expect snook and redfish to continue cooperating for the next month. November brings cooler water temperatures triggering a variety of action including black drum, bluefish, bonito and spanish mackerel.
Target Species:

snook, redfish, pompano
