Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

Naples to Everglades Fishing Report including Marco Island

The fishing up to last week has been hot, as the weather turns warmer I expect this to continue. The slight set back this week was a late season cold front the breazed thru and churned up the water. This sent the bait down and the fish into a mini hybernation. I do not expect this to last long. Barring anymore late fronts we should see good continued Snook action along the Beaches and Passes and Tarpon will be keeping up their migratory run North. One of my favorite places to find Snook and Tarpon in the month of June is along Keewaydin Island which runs about eleven miles between Naples and Marco. The Tarpon will be anywhere from 20 foot off the beach to about a mile offshore. When your fishing the beach you will also find plenty of Snook, Jack, and Pompano schools. In the Schools of Pompano, don't be surprised if you catch a Permit or two. Wait, don't get to excited these permit range from 1 to 5 pounds, not the big one's offshore. We are coming up to my favorite fishing month in South West Florida. In my opinion also one of the best months to catch the Grand Slam on Fly. The wind will be light and if get out early you shoulsd have great success.

Offshore Naples and Marco

The Offshore fishing should be just as good as the Inshore fishing. This month will meen light winds and smooth conditions offshore. Making the runs out twenty to 60 miles a breeze. Make sure to chech in with the shrimp boats because there will be plenty of fish around them. False Albacore tops the list, but expect to catch Cobia, and Blackfin Tuna along with small Dolphin. We aslo se quite a few Sailfish this time of the year so always be prepared to pitch a bait or Fly. Permit around the wrecks are the main targets this time of the year, and you will probably find them on most of them including all the nearshore barges South of Marco. Get some live Crabs and go to work. Fishing for permit is usually better in the Afternoons than in the mornings, just a hint. Snapper fishing is also gearing up, they key is light line and small hooks. Flourocarbon is a must for the largest and I prefer Maxima. Good luck and if you need any help finding your way contact us thru my web site or at [email protected] Thanks Roan z.
