Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing Report South West Florida Naples to Everglades
Fishing is Red Hot if you can stay out of Red Tide.
Snook Fishing from Estero To Everglades is excellent whether you are fishing with Live, Artificial, or Fly. There are good concentrations both inside and outside, from the beaches to the creeks and they are feeding up for the winter slow down. I am not sure how much longer this will last, the cold fronts are getting stronger and closer, but for now you need to get out there and catch some fish. Fly fishing the Naples lights has been producing good numbers of Snook, but the Marco lights are not only producing numbers of Snook but the size of the fish that I am catching are huge. The five largest fish we boated a couple of nights ago ranged from 27 inches to 36 inches and had more that we couldn't turn. Day time fishing has been good also, as long as you can get clear of the waters with red tide. The red Tide has been coming and going pretty much all summer, every day is a new adventure with it. Fishing for Redfish has been a good day bad day scenario, One day we see them everywhere and the next you cannot seem to find them anywhere. For most days we are atleast catching a few on Fly. Bait fishing has been producing better on the reds especially shrimp under a popping cork. The flats around Marco are starting to produce Trout and it won't be long before they start ganging up in their winter haunts. You might want to try the Flat along the Intercoastal waterway just North of Capri Pass. Tarpon fishing is still available from Naples to Everglades they are just fewer and farther between. I did have a good day last week chasing the little one's in a couple of creeks, we boated 4 and jumped another 6 in a couple of hard to reach places.
Offshore Fishing Report
The Grouper Boats are finding fish on Full day charters but the half day charters have had it tough. You need to get way out there to do any good it seems. I have heard that If you get down toward the towers that the Lane and Mangrove Snapper are fairly easy to limit out on. The smaller boats that are wreck hoping around here are still catching some Permit and Cobia. The Kings should be in anytime I understand there are a few showing and I know they are catching them just to the North of Tampa. I hope we get a good run and they don't pass us up with the red tide.
Everglades Bass fishing
Bass Fishing is staring to happen again, This is a little earlier than usual and I hope this is a harbinger of things to come. It should be a good year for bass in the Everglades we had a relatively mild summer and the fish should be hungry and waiting for a little cool down of water temps.
