Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

Great night fishing on Fly and early evening Snook bite surpasses all expectations. You need to get out and fish, September looks like it is going to be gooood!

This week has seen some beautiful full moons and some exceptional night fishing. Fished 4 days this week or should I say nights. Great afternoon tides and strong incoming tides have put the fish in an aggressive mood and my anglers caught big numbers and larger Snook.

I new we were going to have some great night fishing this week, but it even surpassed my expectations. I fished four different areas each night this week and I wasn’t disappointed at any one of them. From Wiggins Pass south to Caxsambas the late afternoon outgoing tide and the night time incoming proved to be fatal to the Snook. I am not going to say just how many Snook my anglers caught this week, I am not sure anyone would believe me, but suffice it to say I had many happy fly anglers and all went home early with sore arms. We also tallied quite a few Trout and some huge Snapper. The Tarpon were hard to find except in the Naples area were we jumped three but none made it to the boat. I will say this for the Tarpon anglers; They should be looking on the beach this time of the year for the return of the migrating fish back south. Afternoons seem to offer the best fishing but you can find them in the mornings too.

The Redfish will be showing up on the jetties and the near shore reefs along with the passes. The return of the bait to the passes which seems to be happening right now will bring some of the best Snook fishing of the year to all the passes from Naples to Marco. Weather will be starting to cool just a little and the fish will respond to this in September. No Excuses get out there and fish for you year round residents this is the last gasp before the Northerners return in October. Going to take my vacation for the next two weeks so I will see all when I back mid September. On the CCA tournament it will be held Sunday September the 9th this month. Good luck to all that fish it and I am sorry I will not be able to get down there this time. Good fishing and casting Roan z.
