Naples & Marco Island, FL

Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

Cool Temperatures are here again. This hasn't seemed to cool the fishing off around Naples and Marco. Snoo, Tarpon, and Reds still biting from the front to the back.

How is everyone liking the cool temps? Sorry I didn't report last week weather was a bit nasty with 40 mph winds and all. Did finaly get out Thursday and Friday and to my surprise fishing was pretty good. Topwater plugs accounted for most of the fish. Snook to 32 inches a couple of nice Reds and a Tarpon or two in the air(none landed). Sunday was the first day we could throw the Fly and we primarily targeted Tarpon and Snook in the Backcountry. I am sorry to say for my angler (a long time client) the Tarpon did not really cooperate. We had atleast ten takes but no solid hookups. We were able to boat a few nice Snook, but we really wanted to land a couple of Tarpon. Well, we will have to start over next year.

Fisherman this week should have continued succes both inside and out. There is still lots of bait around the passes and the fish are still crashing them. Water temps are dropping though. Report of another cool down on Wednesday. This could make things change a little and have the Snook looking for warmer coves and the Tarpon moving further up the creeks. The good news is this should start the Reds to prowl the flats in some nice sized schools. If the winds would calm some, sight fishing should be the way to go. Fishing most of this week, so it is going to be interesting to see if some of our winter species start to show up. Good casting Roan z.
