Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

We are just about halfway through September now and fishing is getting better and better each week. September can be one of the very best months of the year to target snook and redfish in our area.
We usually see and increase in the redfish numbers as the month progresses and so far that is holding true. My anglers have found them in decent numbers on several recent trips. Sight fishing at low water has been effective as they cruise and tail along shallow channel edges. Well placed casts are rewarded with redfish ranging from 23 to 27 inches.
Snook fishing as been good with countless small fish caught most trips as well as some bigger bruisers ranging to 39 inches. Late last week, I fished with regulars Bill and Jack Forte'. We caught snook and redfish all morning long. At the last stop we found a frenzy of feeding snook. Bill was rewarded with a 39 inch, 16 pounder on 10 lb. test from under the bushes! Great catch Bill.

Sharks are still giving my anglers some tough fights. Bull, lemon and blacktip sharks to 6 1/2 feet were all boated on a shark trip last Friday. I am still running shark trips at a discounted rate through September.
Naples Fishing Forecast:

Fishing should keep getting better as the days get a little shorter and the water starts to cool down a bit. Look for large schools of redfish moving into the passes and along beaches especially during the next new and full moon cycles.
Target Species:

Snook, redfish, sharks
