Spring Means Change&the Snook Are Really Starting To Come Alive!

Jennifer Wolter

Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

With fewer cold fronts and warmer water temps, Spring like fishing patterns are quickly becoming apparent. Bait has returned to the inshore flats and snook have been schooled up around creek and river mouths and in areas of patchy sand. We've been staking out within casting distance of likely ambush points such as deeper depressions and along edges of sandbars. The water is gin clear in the creeks of the Glades backcountry so it's important to be stealthy and quiet when casting to these snook. We've been successful catching quality fish sight casting to schools laid up on shallow sand bars as well as blind casting into deeper pockets and depressions in the creeks and river mouths. DOA paddle tails rigged on a 1/4oz jig head and Zoom Super Fluke Jr's rigged weedless on a weighted worm hook have been catching these fish.
