Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report
What a week! If you aren't taking advantage of the awesome fishing this month, you are really missing out!
We have had strong tides all week with the full moon which have been flooding the mangrove areas mid day and the redfish have been feeding heavily.
I have been concentrating on the windy shorelines at high tide with live sardines and finding redfish schooled up and feeding all afternoon. Most of the fish are running 18 to 24 inches. We are finding plenty of snook in the mix, running up to 26 inches.
On Thursday afternoon I fished with one of my longest loyal clients of 29 years. Jack and his daughter Dorrie found non stop redfish and snook action as well as some bruiser jacks. I would estimate that they released between 30 and 40 reds and snook in four hours!
Tarpon are also tearing up the bait and mullet around the passes, especially at sunrise. This morning, I took John Suddeth of Naples out for some sunrise tarpon action. We found them feeding along a shallow bar in about 3 feet of water blasting bait all around the boat. John free lined a mullet which lasted about 3 minutes before being consumed by a 95 lb fish. An hour later John subdued it and after a quick photo we released it. With our mission complete we were back to the dock by 8:00!
There's no excuse not to have a good day on the water this month!
