Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

Unseasonably warm weather has dominated the month so far and with just a few exceptions has delivered some great fishing for my clients.
The live baits (pilchards) have remained easily available and have provided some great snook action for this time of year. We have had several outings in the last couple of weeks releasing as many as 25 snook with fish running up to 30 inches.

Redfishing remains consistent with most of the fish in the 23 to 26 inch size. We have taken reds by just about an means depending on the anglers and tides. Live baits are a sure thing, but soft jigs have also been successful. On a couple of fly trips, we connected while sight fishing to tailing and cruising fish in mere inches of water. Small baitfish imitations as well as shrimp flies took fish.
Sea trout have been a common catch on many charters. They are devouring the live baits, but jigs took quite a few as well.
Naples Fishing Forecast:

A cool down is expected for the upcoming week. I predict that a drop in water temperature will drive more fish into the back country including an increase in pompano and trout activity as well as black drum.
Target Species:

Snook, redfish, trout
