Orlando Florida Bass Fishing Guides Report

Capt. Ed Bussard
May 17, 2010
Orlando - Freshwater Fishing Report

The fishing just keeps getting better and better here on the St Johns River.
The shad are thick and the bass are eating very well.I fished the Wolfson
Tournament with 422 boats on the St Johns River out of Palaka FL on Saturday and
even with this tournament being some 90 miles north form the area I guide
we found the same thing going on with the shad and bass up there.
They were chasing shad on main River shellbeds.Hank and I caught
around 30 fish in the tournament with the largest weighing 7 pounds
which was caught on a White Bitters Skip Shad.
It took a five fish limit weighing over 31 pounds to win this tournament
congrads to the winner's as that is a great stringer of fish for mid May.

Came back home and fished a 6hr trip with Barry Z and Tammy Z of CT today
and we found the fishing was great just about everywhere we stopped the boat.
Total was about 25 fish in between rain storms all morning.Topwater was a little
off today but the fish were eating a C Rigged Bitters 7.5 Junebug Bluetail Worm
very well. Some nice fish were caught between 3 and 6.8 pounds on this trip.
The St Johns River is Red Hot to say the least and should continue through
the next couple months. As I say every year. You don't have to come to the
St Johns River during the spawn to catch trophy bass as it happens 365
days a year here.Check out the 2008 2009 and 2010 Trophy Pages and see
