Orlando, FL - Lake Toho, Clermont Chain & The Kissimmee Chain

Orlando - Freshwater Fishing Report

Clermont Chain

Today our adventures took us to Lakes Wilson, Cook and Cherry on Beautiful Clermont Chain in Lake County.

Our First stop was Lake Cherry, a lake with great cover for flipping and tossing spinner baits, and some of the best top water action we have seen in awhile. Pitching White Spinner baits up tigh to reeds, working them thru some of the healthiest grass beds we have seen produced 6 very nice bass running from 2.5 to 4 pounds.

From there we went down river a short distance to Lake Cook. Lake Cook has some excellent lily pad areas, some of which run deep back into very shallow water, tossing a zoom Horny Toad in white color OVER some reeds and brush back into a small tight area landed a nice 4 pounder, at first look it was a question of " how do we hit this spot" which soon turned to " How do i get this bass out of here" Question easily answered with some 50 pound test Stren Super Braid.

This line has what it takes to go after the ones in the hard to reach and OFTEN overlooked areas.

From there we moved on down to Lake Wilson, Lake Wilson was not that great of a producer for us today, only landing 3 small ones around 1.5 to 2 pounds each.

One thing that i see ALOT of people doing out on the Clermont Chain is going from one lake to the next, and NEVER fishing the river, we worked the river hard, hitting points, pockets and patches of reeds and lily pads, mostly flipping a Gene Larew Craw in Black Neon color where we managed to pick up 6 more bass. Most were hitting on the CALM side of the points waiting in ambush mode and we offered them just what they wanted today.

This chain of lakes is probably one of the most scenic chains we fish and is fast becoming one of our favorite areas to fish again, Bass are very aggressive and very good fighters which makes the trips there just that much more enjoyable.

We have a few days still open for this month so jump onboard while you can. Also, over the next few days we are going to be overhauling our web site to make it easier to navigate and also adding a ton of information to take it to the next level of INTENSE bass fishing.

till my next report, tight lines and GREAT fishing.
