Orlando - Freshwater Fishing Report

Johns Lake
Thursday the 16th we had a run out to Johns Lake. Waters were running around 83 degrees with excellent water clarity. Day was spent working flooded timber on the main lake, and working residential docks. Fire Tiger Frenzy over the top of timber at a medium rate of speed was key to picking up 3 in the 2 to 4 pound range. From there we moved over to the docks, working white spinner baits, cotton candy/ firecracker spinnerbaits, and a colorless hand poured worm.
Spinnerbaits would get hit after coming out from under the docks, pitching them up under was the whole key as well with the worms, worms also had a 1/16th bullet weight pegged to nose, letting the worm hit bottom and slowly moving the bass would pick her right up.
Clermont Chain of Lakes
Friday the 17th we toured around Clermont Chain.
Once again a great spot being Emerald Lakes Mobile Home Park. Bait of choice in there was a broken back rapala, chrome and black and a chrome and blue rattle trap.
From there we headed over to Lake Wilson for a short spell, Wilson was not the spot to be, only picking up one on a carolina rigged Culprit worm.
From there we moved into Lake Cook, Lake Cook was once again and always seems to be an active area for us, Fishing DEEP into the lily pads with a Norman Weed Walker in bright yellow was the definate ticket.
First 3 casts produced 3 solid bass to 5.5 pounds, the cover on lake and river systems is what makes Florida bass fishing the best and puts your skills to the test, hooking a 5.5 pound bass 35 feet back into lily pads is not for the weak at heart, once you set that hook, you have to hang on tight and give NO slack and then slowly work your way back to get your prize.
Heading back to the ramp, we did some flipping in the river, working main points and smaller groups of lily pads picking up 2 more solid bass using Culprit worms. Back to the ramp by 12 noon and could not have asked for a better day on the water in one of florida's finest fisheries.
Till my next report, Tight lines and great fishing!!
