Orlando, FL - Lake Toho, Clermont Chain & The Kissimmee Chain

Orlando - Freshwater Fishing Report

Clermont Chain

Week ending November 13th 2005

The past week has been spent mostly on the great Clermont Chain of Lakes.

Fishing the river portion of the chain just before Lake Wilson found bass actively hitting Horny Toads one day, but the next day was a flip flop, when they wanted nothing but Kraws or trick worms.

Lakes Cook and Cherry was a mixed bag of tricks all week long but with a combination of top water baits, spinner baits and occasional crank bait the bass were there to play.

One area of special note, between Cook Lake and Cherry Lake, there is a channel that leads back to the construction area that has been holding great numbers of bass and with the water level up right now, it has made the center pond area fishable which has seen us catch several bass over 3 pounds with a few coming in just over 5 pounds.

The higher waters has pushed the bass back into swampy areas which has made the bite more exciting in my opinion, nothing more exciting than seeing a top water bait get hammered 20 feet back into the woods where you cant get a boat into but can still set the hook and horse her out.

Lake Hiawatha has been off and on at times, but the bass that hit are generally very good quality. Lake Louisa, on the extreme southern end of the chain has been on the slow side but the key to this lake is and has always seemed to be, when you get hit, the quality of the bass is very good. Fewer hits but bigger bass and these bass are very solid.

The big spawn is fast approaching us so keep in mind to let them go to help keep our lakes some of the best bass lakes in the nation. Take that picture and ease her back in so she can keep our bass population growing. Replica Bass are just as good, and last forever without any discoloration.

Till my next report, tight lines and great fishing
