Orlando - Freshwater Fishing Report

Orlando Lakes
The past 2 weeks we tooled around several lakes in central Florida checking waters levels, water clarity and how bass were responding on the different bodies of water. My tournament partner and his son wanted to do some fishing, so we started out by hitting 2 of Orlandos Fab 5 lakes.
Lake Underhill was our first venture and it did not let us down. Water levels were very good out here and ramp area is perfect for launching. Water was very clean and we saw some good schooling action throughout the lake. Altho the bass were all in the 2 pound class that were caught, it made for some good consistant action for the kids. Plenty of clean shoreline for those who are looking for a lake to fish from the shore.
Lake Ivanhoe was our second venture. Waters were much dirtier as this lake was in the process of turning over, but with plenty of hydrilla and lily pads the fishing action was again pretty steady. Good areas to walk along the lake for once again some shoreline fishing. Both lakes we used a combination of lures, with white spinner baits and flukes the top baits to catching bass, as the kids caught bass on wild shiners.
Lake Underhill and Lake Ivanhoe are both located in Orlando and nice lakes for a good family get away to fish shoreline and enjoy a good picnic.
Conway Chain waters are looking very good, the day we fished the water temps were holding right at 69 degrees with some very good schooling activity going on throughout the day. Fire Tiger colored crank baits and the old reliable storm wild eye curl tail swim bait caught some good bass and kept the action steady. Once again the kids had a great time with steady action using wild shiners.
Butler Chain had some good schooling action as well. Water levels are doing very good out here with the waters really cleaning up with the lakes turning over. Lakes Tibet and Chase have produced some steady action on both spinner baits, Gitem Shads and Gitem K.Os, both in watermelon red colors. Some top water action on buzz baits and High Roller chug rollers throughout the day along grass bed edges and on Lake Louise where the eel grass is just below the surface.
