Palm Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report
Highs and lows! October can bring many emotions to an angler. Mullet run season has been going for weeks, fish get happy then stubborn, anglers get happy then frustrated. Weather is great, then rain and wind show up. All part of the game. Mother Nature can humble any angler, but keep pushing. Adapt and conquer!
Intercostal waters in the palm beaches are still teaming with live mullet schools migrating. Snook have been really concentrated along sea walls. Bait gather along sea walls and pilings looking for cover, but the snook are lurking ambushing these schools as they try and settle along structures. Live baits, DOA C.A.L. 4" jerk baits rigged weedless get the strikes.
Tarpon have been the favorite high flying act for anglers. Schools of tarpon patrol edges of channels and structures, busting mullet schools. Anglers have the opportunity to sight cast to the silver kings. Nothing beats watching a tarpon strike your bait with a vengeance. Live baits, DOA BaitBusters and Terror Eyz get the drag screaming. Remember always lead the fish and bow to the king!
Huge schools of jacks, mackerel, bluefish and many other species lurk near mullet schools. These species take turns striking the bait schools and picking up scraps as other predator fish strike. Live bait, Rapala skitter walks and DOA BaitBusters all great baits to get the bite.
