Palm Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report
Summer officially starts! After the holiday weekend, kids are getting out of school. People are starting to get ready for their summer vacations. With a short week this past week due to the holiday, anglers had great success due to the warm weather and great tides we had.
Tarpon fishing picked up this week, water still dirty in some areas, but the fish were very active striking live baits. Back cuts and cows were holding juvenile tarpon. These fish were following glass minnow pods. Rapala x raps provoked strikes but anglers just couldn't hold tight as the silver king shook the lures. As we get into mid June, the tarpon bite should really fire up, plenty of big fish on the beaches and inside local inlets and passes.
Snook fishing is ramping up local inlets and passes are holding fish. Issue that we're having in Palm Beach County is the dredging creating dirty water and spooking fish at times. Back waters and canals are holding plenty of snook for anglers to target. Live bait and Rapala x raps in ghost color provoke strikes.
Targeting snook and tarpon anglers are having great success, catching jacks, barracuda, ladyfish, snapper, sharks and many other species. As bait schools continue pushing into the intercoastal this will drive more schooling fish to our areas, keeping consistent rod, bending action.
