Palm Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report
School is out let the fun in the sun begin and most importantly try and stay dry from the afternoon thunderstorms. Anglers grab the family and get the drag screaming on those reels, the fish are waiting.
Snook anglers the fishing is steady but the best is still to come, the full moon will trigger the spawning session. The docks and seawall are great areas to locate snook using live baits and DOA C.A.L. 3" shad tail in Glow / Gold rush belly. Top water plugs create explosions when worked slowly at sunrise. The back bays and canals are still holding smaller fish which are schooling up in pods if 20 to 50 fish. Bridges are holding big female snook near lights and shadow lines, trolling rapala diving plugs and clouser flies work great for these monsters.
Tarpon fanatics the beaches are starting to calm, allowing boats to navigate in search of rolling fish. The bigger fish weighing 50 to 100 pounds are in depths from 10 to 25 feet of water, sunrise is the best time to target these fish. The silver kings in the back bays and deeper channels offer steady action for light tackle anglers. These juvenile fish are averaging 5 to 30 pounds in size, schooling in pods of 10 to 15 fish. Live baits and DOA Terror Eyz in Pearl color worked on the bottom will provoke many strikes.
Freshwater side the largmouth bass are very active early morning and late afternoon after the thunderstroms have passed. Live shiners worked near drop offs and channel edges entice largemouth to feed consistently. Exotic species like the peacock bass and clown knife fish are abundant in the residential canals feeding on live shad and artificial lure like the small jerk baits and DOA C.A.L. 3" shad tail in candy corn color.
