Brandon White on the water again!

Capt. James Pic
September 11, 2009
Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

One of the pleasures of being a guide is having an impact on the next generation of fisher people, girls and boys. I have some 12 and 13 year old children that fish with me on a regular basis that could beat the pants off a lot of the adults that fish with me. Fishing is like any thing else.
Twenty years ago when I got my real estate brokers license someone said to me "80% of all the real estate is sold by 20% of the people in the business". How true...20% are making all the money in the real estate profession, sales profession and other professions. I feel the same way about fishing. 80% of all the fish are caught by 20% of the fishermen. Just because your fishing on the redfish tour doesn't mean your part of the 20%, especially if you lose all the time. More than likely your part of the 80% just on the tour. I made this point to another guide a few days ago and told him to strive to be part of the 20%. Whether at the top or bottom be part of the 20%. That's what I would hope most fishermen would do; strive to be a part of the 20%.
This is how it is with a lot of my young customers. Brandon White, age 9, can fish! His father, John, has taught him well. I'm proud to have been a part of his learning skills when it comes to fishing. When he hooks up with a big spanish I don't have to stand over him making sure he gets the fish to the boat. He will be part of the 20% when he grows up.
Today was Brandons' last day on the boat for this year and although it was a little tough he hung in there catching some nice fish. See you next year!

Panama City Fishing Forecast:

There are a lot of trout on the flats and the reds are starting to get a little exited in anticipation of the season change coming in the near future.
Spanish, kings and blues...yes kings...are still in the bay and will continue to be so well into November. If you want to see a big king caught in the bay check out my report from last month.
Flounder will start moving soon.

Target Species:

Fishing is great right now everything is biting.

More Fishing Reports:

Sight casting fly and spinning for reds, trout, bonita, spanish, jacks and many other species. Live bait trips available as well as hot topwater action in the bay around Panama City, Florida. Depending on the time of the year I can normally put you on legal grouper in the bay, monster speckled trout, lot's of fly fishing action and just about everything else that swims and good tablefare.
