Cast n catch in Panama City

Capt. Bryon Hughes
April 7, 2014
Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

This past week was textbook for this season. While a lot of folks were out and trolling for Spanish, I have always preferred to cast plugs, spoons, and the infamous Gotcha for these fast moving fish.

I took a couple local firefighters out but instead of the main bay and pass areas so popular right now, we made the trip to Crooked Island and fished until we were all tired of catching!

We put well over 50-60 fish in the boat within a few hours and let most of them go to breed and get bigger. A couple of Flounder were also boxed off the sandy drop-offs casting jigs and "bouncing bottom".

This pattern should continue for a good bit, but the other species will begin to shine in the next couple weeks.

Cobia and Shark will be coming on strong as well as a steady improvement of our flats species. Give me a call for a trip and we'll go "rip some lips!"
