Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Every spring we get into a time when we can't find menhaden. We also get days, like the last few, when it's windy and cloudy making for tough conditions.
All that have fished with me in the spring and early summer know that I will put on DOA/Popping Corks for trout, Gulps and Zara Spooks for reds and spoons or Gotchas! for spanish. Today was one of those days.
Warren and Jeff, down for a few days, wanted to cast for trout, reds and spanish this morning.
Although we didn't put 100 trout in the boat this morning, we were not far from that number. Unfortunately most were just an inch or half to short. No shortage of action, just not many keepers.
At one point in the morning we looked around for reds. We had one chase a spook up to the boat and saw a wad of pushing fish in another spot but for various reasons none were hooked.
At the end of the trip we hit the Middle Grounds for some spanish action. We put a few in the boat with Gotchas! There were only a few times during the trip when someone wasn't getting hit or reeling in a fish. It was a good day for artificials.

Panama City Fishing Forecast:

Fishing will continue to get better with each day and as the water warms.
Getting close to big trout season.
Target Species:

Trout, reds, spanish, pompano and cobia.
