Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Ran the first all "chum trip" today. If you have never experienced catching big spanish in a chum line, it's something you definitely want to try. I use 8 1/2 foot ML custom rods built on St. Croix blanks with oversized reels and eight pound line. I build these rods which are my primary live bait rod. They are made to chunk a bait a long way with no weight or popping cork. The fast action these rods bring make for long screaming runs which let you feel every head shake whether it be a spanish, red or trout. As someone that has caught a lot of bones, I can tell you, catching spanish on these light rods is as close to a bonefish run as you will get around here.
Jason and Miles from S. Illinois matched wits with fast running spanish this morning. With blues and ladyfish mixed in the action was non stop. The bite was so good I couldn't get the fish in the box fast enough.

Fishing a chum line is very exciting because you never know whats going to swim up. We missed a couple of big sharks this morning. I can even chum for the fly fisherman! Here are the rest of the highlights.
