Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

After several days of seeing one or two fish a day with none of them eating anything you threw at them, things are finally startin to favor the anglers. I got a chance to get out with my buddy Guy Ward yesterday and spend some time looking for the tempermental cobia. With all the fish having lock jaw lately we decided to spend soe time catching live bait which we did and boy did it pay offf. The fisrt fish we saw was floating right on top. My buddy threw one of our custom jigs on it and to our suprise inhaled it. Finally we got one to eat and and we put him in the box. Next we came up on a boat throwing jigs at a cobia with no luck. After giving them several minutes to work the fish I asked them if they minded if I threw alive bait on it and they said go ahead. As soon as the bait hit the water he jumped all over it and ate it. I feel bad for the guys that were throwing at it with the jigs. Thats a heartbreaking feeling to be so close to one and then watch somebody else catch it right in front of you. After catching it we headed in.

We had phone calls coming in all day of people seeing and catching cobia. My good buddy Ashton Lewis also caught a 65lb cobia that morning.

The cobia have arrived to say the least. It's not the big push of fish but its a pretty good start and I look fo the fish to start showing more enthusiasm in jigs and live baits with every passing day!
