Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

What great weather we've had the last two days. I hope this is the end of the cold weather. Yesterday I had a two boat trip with Capt. Justin Leake . We left Sun Harbor Marina at noon and headed Offshore for some light tackle action. I knew it was going to be a great day because as soon as we cleared the pass we saw a giant Sunfish swimming on the surface, the biggest one I have ever seen this close in.

We stopped and took a few pictures then headed out to our first spot. It took all of about a minute and everyone on both boats were hooked up for the next 3 hours. Between the two boats we caught White Snapper, Red Snapper, Black Snapper, Flounder, Sheepshead, Red Grouper, Gag Grouper, Scamp, and Triggerfish. Needless to say between the two boats they had a pile of fish to take back to Georgia.

The State waters Red Snapper season starts May 24th. This will be the longest Snapper season in years so come on down and catch some of these tasty fish. Another bonus of the season starting early is we can also keep Amber jack until the end of May.
If you have not checked out Sun Harbor Marina lately there are 6 Light Tackle Guides there that can take care of all your fishing. From stalking Redfish on the Flats to Grouper, Snapper, and Kings Offshore we can do it all.

Good luck on the water and in the woods,
