Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

As always around the fourth there's a lot going on in Panama City Florda. The BP boats line up in the bay each morning with nothing to do because there is no oil anywhere near Panama City. Some of the BP guys follow me around watching me fish others have some nasty things to say to those of us that chose to continue to work for ourselves and make a living. It's funny how you really don't get the truth on the news about what is happening on the water. Basically, if you have a boat and are breathing you qualify to be a "vessel of opportunity" for BP. Not all fit into that categorie, there are many people that would be fishing if federal waters were not closed. Although there is no oil in the area the "BP Fleet will exit the various marinas each morning around eight heading out to look for non-existant oil. Best not be anchored up fishing where they want to go 'cause they will sure enough wake you or run you over in thier hurry to go no where.
As for the fishing....been great. Had lot's of kids last week. Trout and redfish bite is on the rise after the spawn ten days ago. The spanish are still in the bay although some have moved out with the freshwater from the rain. There are some big blues, ladfish and sharks all over the main bay.
Live bait is the way to go although the fly bite has been pretty good.

Panama City Fishing Forecast:

Don't see any changes over the next few weeks with the fishing. Offshore the king bite is good, inshore the trout, redfish, spanish and blue bite continues.
Target Species:

Everything is biting.
