Great week on the water and in the woods.

Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

What can you say about this time of the year. Get with someone that knows the area, grew up here, fished and hunted all his life in the area...good things will happen while your with that guide!

Spent some time with some fisherpersons this week. Been running charters all winter but just replaced the camera. I'll be posting big fish again just like always. Big reds in the pass and trout in the creeks and bayous. Here's Art Voss handling a big jack in Warren Bayou on the fly...unfortunately he broke off.

Later, Art put this hoss in the boat on ten pound line fishing in the pass with live bait.

Here's a recent duck hunt...still plenty of birds out there, more than I've seen in the last six or seven years. Season ends on Sunday the 25th of January. It was a good year. I'm booked most of next week which means some good end of the season pictures. We found a new place to goose hunt next winter. Anyone interested in a goose hunt next fall let me know and we will sign you up. Limited spots for a great hunt.

I normally don't like to put myself on my site but I'm going to make an exception. The first photo is a deer in the 200lb range that I took last week on the private property that I hunt in Blountstown. There are some big deer in that swamp. The deer was old, had very little teeth and gray all around his nose and mouth. He had a beautiful rack on one side, had the other matched he would have been a 12 point. It was his time to be culled. Good management buck. I'm sure there is another as big that will move into that swamp and take his place.

I was invited to hunt the Choctaw Preserve last week and in turn asked my buddy Capt. Mike Falzone to accompany me on a quail hunt. Virgil and Jimmy of Choctaw Preserve have a beautiful piece of land with good habitat. It's easy to walk and the birds they have fly as well as wild birds. We had a great time shooting some of those tasty little critters. I highly reccomend the Choctaw Preserve. Anyone wanting more infomation about a great quail hunt can give me a call or shoot me an email.
Doc on point.

Panama City Fishing Forecast:

Duck season ends in a week.
Fishing will continue be good throughout the rest of the winter. The colder it gets the more fish in Warren Bayou, the creeks and other bayous. Trout closes in February. That is a great month to catch and release a big fish both on conventional tackle and the fly.
Big reds in the pass.

More Fishing Reports:

Sight casting fly and spinning for reds, trout, bonita, spanish, jacks and many other species. Live bait trips available as well as hot topwater action in the bay around Panama City, Florida. Depending on the time of the year I can normally put you on legal grouper in the bay, monster speckled trout, lot's of fly fishing action and just about everything else that swims and good tablefare.
