Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

This is the time of year that the sun gets warm, and thoughts of vacation, time off with the family, and kicking back with your feet up fill your head. But for a Florida fishing guide this time of year means early mornings filled with catching bait, days filled with bent poles, and nights filled re-rigging for the next day's catch, and not much time for anything else. So i will apologize now if I am slow on getting my reports in and forgetting a name or two.
As for the fishing, it has been great off shore, with Kings stacked up on many of the structures with some very large ones being caught this year,javascript:insert_image('

') Wahoo have started appearing in the picture. We got spooled this week and i believe it was a large Wahoo. The Amber Jacks more than willing to eat a hook too.javascript:insert_image('

') javascript:insert_image('

')We have ran into many nice Jack Cervels also.javascript:insert_image('

') Red Snapper have slowed a bit as the summer crowd picks off the big ones, but some nice ones are still being taken for the dinner table. Sharks are unusually thick this year, appearing on many structures, stealing your catch from you as you real it in.javascript:insert_image('

') javascript:insert_image('

')The Baracuda's have arrived in force, and are ready to grab any Bonita caught.
We ran a few inshore trips this month, and struggled finding good keeper trout, but finally managed to find a few on my third trip.javascript:insert_image('

') But still struggling to find good numbers as I am running many off shore trips this time of year, and haven't had a lot of time to hunt them, but I will keep looking when I can. The Spanish Mackerel are big this year, but have been thinned out by the crowds. I am finding most of the big ones off the beach a few miles.
Jetty fishing is a bit slow this time of the year with some catches coming early in the morning.
The pier is suffering the same fate with the occasional Spanish and a lot of small sharks being caught.
Thanks for your patients in waiting for my reports, but its time to get back to work. So until next time bent poles and tight lines to all!
