Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

What to talk about first? Well, a client caught the biggest redfish I have ever seen yesterday. Some where around 50 lbs. Hopefully will have a photo in a few days to put up. We have been catching a lot of giant reds in the pass ranging anywhere from 20 to 50 pounds. All on light tackle! Been having some issues with the camera but will have some photo's in a day or two.
The flounder run started. Catching these monster reds is a lot of fun and fairly easy. It's still a week to ten days away from being strong but there is plenty of action. We had a 17 fish day last week, here are some of the highlights.

There have been a lot of black (mangrove) snapper around the jetties this day it only took us about 20 minutes to limit out.

Offshore the bonita have started coming in close along with kings and big spanish. This the time of the year I like to fly fish off the beach or us extremely light tackle for these fish. Unfortunately, light tackle is not the answer as was the case with a boat fishing next to us last week that hooked, jumped and lost a nice sailfish not far off the beach. When the weather permits offshore is a lot of fun this time of year.
Panama City Fishing Forecast:

Offshore this time of year is great for light tackle or fly sight fishing for bonita, spanish some other types of mackeral and the occasional blackfin tuna.
Inshore the trout and refish bite continues to be good.
This is the time of year to catch flounder so if your a flounder lover give me a call and let's go get some flatties. My best day of flounder was almost 40 fish boated with 23 keepers.
