Panama City, FL Fishing is as good as it gets!

Capt. Todd Jones
October 17, 2013
Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well as the title of the report says it can't get any better. The weather is perfect cool temps, low humidity and sunny skies. Like I always tell people the fall and early winter is the best time to be fishing in the Panhandle. People must be listening because this is my busiest October yet as a matter of fact I have another double tomorrow.
Offshore the reef fishing has been incredible. We are catching limits of Snapper, lots of Grouper, Scamp and Triggerfish. Seems like every trip we have also been getting Cobia, Dolphin, and Kings. We even had a nice Wahoo on for a while the other day until it chewed thru the wire leader.

The Red Snapper season closes on the 21st, but that does not mean you can't catch a good mess of great eating fish. You can still take home Grouper, Scamp, Vermillion Snapper, Lane Snapper, White Snapper and Triggerfish. There is also lots of Pelagic's to target like Kings, Dolphin and BlackFin Tuna. So don't let Red Snapper season closing stop you from coming to Panama City to fish. Well enough about how awesome the Offshore Fishing is.

Inshore the fishing is just as good. Anything you choose to do right now is great. Topwater action for Redfish and Trout is nonstop the first 4 hours of the day. If you want to fish with live bait, that is off the hook as well. Live bait fishing in the bay has been producing lots of huge Spanish as well as Bluefish, Trout, Redfish, and a half a dozen other species.
That's all I have to say about that.

Good Luck on the Water,
Capt. Todd Jones

More Fishing Reports:

Capt. Todd has been fishing the Gulf Coast for over 40 years and guiding for 30 years. He is a second generation fishing guide. While serving his country for 22 years as a Navy Diver he was able to fish all over the world. In his travels he has fished the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, as well as the Mediterranean and the Sea of Cortez. But in his opinion nothing compares to the diversity we have here in the Emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
