Capt. Todd Jones
May 7, 2012
Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

INSHORE

Capt. Rob and myself have been catching lots of keeper Trout, Reds, Spanish, and Ladyfish in both East Bay and West Bay.
We have been starting our inshore trips pretty early, usually leaving the dock at daylight or a little before.
The topwater action has been on Fire the last week or so! The lures of choice have been Skitter walks and Super Spook Jr.
Once the sun comes up we have been switching to Miradines and Cajun Thunder Popping corks with Gulp shrimp and a 1/4 oz. jighead.

OFFSHORE

I have been doing some trolling and getting lots of Kings, Bonito,Chicken Dolfin and Spanish.
We have also been drifting live cigar minnows and threadfin over live bottom and wrecks and catching Kings,Bonitio and a few Blackfin Tuna.

The tackle we have been using for this is 7ft. medium heavy spinning rods and 4000 series reels.
They are loaded with 200yds of Power Pro 30# braided line a short piece of wire and a Gamakatsu hook.

More Fishing Reports:

Capt. Todd has been fishing the Gulf Coast for over 40 years and guiding for 30 years. He is a second generation fishing guide. While serving his country for 22 years as a Navy Diver he was able to fish all over the world. In his travels he has fished the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, as well as the Mediterranean and the Sea of Cortez. But in his opinion nothing compares to the diversity we have here in the Emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
