Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

The last couple days I have been fishing on some nearshore wrecks. We have been starting the day off throwing the net for pilchards and pinfish to use for live chum and bait. We are anchoring up near the wreck but not quite on top of it. This allows you to chum the fish off the bottom and away from the structure so you don't lose as many fish in the structure you are trying to fish.

For tackle we are using 7' MH spinning rods with Shimono Spheros 4000 reels loaded with 30# braided line. Our terminal tackle is a 40-60# flourorcarbon leader and a 2/0 to a 4/0 gamakatsu circle hook. For some of the really big Amberjack we are using Spheros 8000 spining reels loaded with 60# braid. You may need to put a short piece of wire on if you start losing to many kings.
