Panama City, Florida Fishing Report

Capt. Todd Jones
August 24, 2013
Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

It seems like I start every report out the same way this summer….In between all the rains we are catching lots of fish. Despite all the rain this year the catching has been great. We are catching lots of snapper you can keep, like Vermillion, White, and Lane snapper. The King fishing has also been pretty consistent. There is a ton of bait offshore and it is easy to catch. Amberjack fishing has been really good the only problem has been all the giant sharks eating them off your line. We have managed to catch and release a few of them also. We have released several Bulls a very large Dusky.

I can only imagine how good the fishing is going to be when this weather finally settles down. Remember we are going to have a short Red snapper season in October. If you plan on coming down for this I suggest you book early with whomever you fish with because this will fill up fast. It has been a long time since we could keep Grouper, Red Snapper, Triggerfish, and Amberjack at the same time.

Good luck and be safe and courteous on the water,
Capt. Todd Jones

More Fishing Reports:

Capt. Todd has been fishing the Gulf Coast for over 40 years and guiding for 30 years. He is a second generation fishing guide. While serving his country for 22 years as a Navy Diver he was able to fish all over the world. In his travels he has fished the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, as well as the Mediterranean and the Sea of Cortez. But in his opinion nothing compares to the diversity we have here in the Emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
