Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report
I know it has been awhile sense my last fishing report but in my defense I have been extremely busy with fishing and travel. That hasn't stopped Capt. Todd from reminding me daily, so I'm going to get back to writing the reports on a weekly basis.
The redfish and trout bite is still very good. There is bait everywhere. We have been staying with the top-water plugs for the early morning hour or so and switching up to a gold spoon or soft plastic bait as the sun goes up. Have a soft plastic bait ready for the old bait and switch. This time of year the trout and reds can sometimes short strike the plugs. When this starts to happen have another rod ready with a slow sinking lure ready to throw in just behind and off to one side of the top-water. This will normally get the fish to bite.
The usual spots are holding fish. The airport, power-lines, North Bay, Shell Island, Middle Grounds and Redfish Point are all producing some good bites .
There are a ton of boats out on the water lately. Some guys have more skills than others when it comes to rules of the road. Just remember that you have to assume the other guy has no idea what he is doing so it is on you to avoid the other guy.
As always good luck on the water.
