Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report
If you were one of largest Fishing Tackle Companies in the world where would you choose to have your annual sales and equipment seminar? Well I'll cut to the chase; they chose Panama City, Florida. Pure Fishing, the parent company o f Berkley, ABU Garcia, Fenwick, Stren, Penn, All Star Rods, Johnson Lures, X-Tolls and a host of others recently held their annual meeting here in Panama City, Florida. Now you wouldn't now that they were here unless you live or work at the Bay Point Marriott or you're a guide. Pure Fishing has been a major sponsor of Back Bay Adventures and other local guide services for several years. We were glad to see them come into town, mainly because we received a large amount of new stuff that isn't out on the market yet, and they booked just about every inshore guide for two weeks straight. It was like being at a fishing guide reunion; Capt. Gregg Burnett,Capt. Bucky Weaver,Capt. Kyle Pitts, and Capt. Gregg Morman to name a few. All the Panama City Inshore Guide Association members were there. Kevin Benton our Pure Fishing area rep. had Capt. Todd and I booked solid for two weeks. Thanks for the business. Here are some pictures of the last two weeks fishing with Pure Fishing. For the rest of the photo's log onto our website.
Anthony from Pure Fishing Canada with a P.C inshore slam!
Patrick is with ABU Garcia out of Sweden. Nice redfish on a new reel.
Jeff is the Pure Fishing Rep. to all the Wal-Marts. Busy guy, nice Trout.
Mike is the Pure fishing guy from the New England area. His first ever Trout was a good one.
They even let us get in on some of the action.
We stayed with Top Water for a majority of our trips. The overcast conditions and higher winds made us switch up to a larger top water plug but the results…..well we caught some nice Trout and Redfish. We won't tell you that we didn't take a picture of a nice Trout because the camera wasn't ready. Nope we'll just show the picture. Have the camera ready, pull the fish out of the water, take the picture and release the fish…..1 minute operation. The less time the fish stays out of the water the better.
Now it is getting to that time of year where the schools are getting out and the families are traveling down to our area. For those of you who travel to Panama City on vacation and want to hire a fishing guide I have a few recommendations. Check your guide out. You can call Department of Fish and Wildlife and ask if he or she has had any fishing violations. I would also contact our local tackle shops, Half Hitch Tackle 888-668-9810 or Howell Tackle 800-423-8954. They deal with the local guides around here on a daily basis. If they don't recommend your choice of guide, well you might want to think twice before hiring him.
As always good luck on the water and watch out for the other guy.

Panama City Fishing Forecast:
The winds and rain are going to stay with us for the next couple days. Put a jacket on and get out there. The overcast bite is on fire. Darker color plugs when it is overcast. Use a loader and a bit larger plug when it is windy. Good Luck!
