Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hit the flats early this morning with John, Jim, James and Danial Topping. We started tossing topwater at tailing reds. On the bow, John, put a spoon fly in front several fish before we watched a nice slot fish eat the fly. Unfortunately, as happens with fly fishing, line, reel, rod or clearing problems allowed the fish to break off. No worries, it was great to watch the fish eat and we saw a lot of reds.
We moved onto another flat for the two boys, James and Danial, to let them throw popping corks with DOA. Much to my suprise a great 20" trout killed an "electric chicken" colored DOA. It was the first time we have used that color. Thanks to DOA for sending them to me.

Later we got some ly's and headed out to the ledges where we caught a bunch of blues and ladies with a few spanish mixed in. It was a good day...oh yeah...say hi to Wendy for me James.

Panama City Fishing Forecast:

Reds and trout on the flats. In a few weeks the trout will gradually start biting better with the shortness of the days. Even though the hottest month of the year can be August we catch a lot of big trout during that time. I caught my 31 1/2 inch 11 pound fish in the middle of August three years ago. That was a once in a lifetime fish and I'm the man to put you on your once in a life time trout. You just have to be here and be on my boat.
Spanish, blues and ladies are on the ledges. The second run will start in mid August.
Kings are still hitting just offshore.
Sharks in the bay.
Target Species:

Anything that swims
