Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report
Bobby and Mike hit the water with me at early thirty this morning. Mike had never caught a red so we headed to West Bay to see if we could change that. The wind was light and the no-see-ums where heavy but we braved them for a while until we caught some redfish. Bobby pulled on of an open flat while Mike got a 26" fish that was in a big school of about 20.
We hit the flats, catching a bunch of small trout. Bobby put some voodoo on my rod which made me lose two nice fish. As with all that read my reports, every fish I ever lost was either a world record, or close. As Mike said, "I caught a fish that I thought had only one eye once til I walked around the other side and saw the second one". Yup, just like the one you caught that was so big he left a hole in the water.
Panama City Fishing Forecast:
Spanish are good early. Live bait has not shown up in any of the places I have looked.
Cobia, although heavy the first part of the week have slowed down. Look for another big run with the full moon next week. We saw three fish today, one looked like he was going to eat but turned a swam away.
There are some pompano on the beach.
Reds are starting to show up in my spots which means it's time to come down and get you some of that redfish action. Big trout are just around the corner.
Sight casting fly and spinning for reds, trout, bonita, spanish, jacks and many other species. Live bait trips available as well as hot topwater action in the bay around Panama City, Florida.
Depending on the time of the year I can normally put you on legal grouper in the bay, monster speckled trout, lot's of fly fishing action and just about everything else that swims and good tablefare.
