Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

This it the time of year when I kick back a little, take a few charters, play a little golf and do some fishing for me....after all, won't be long and I'll be running every day.
Myself and Capt. Mike Falzone went to Deer Point Lake last week for a little r & r, hitting some of the crappie spots I used to fish with my dad when I was a kid. We put in at Cherokee Landing, bougth us some minners and headed out on the lake. We fished for about three hours with ultra light four pound rigs in about 20 feet of water. We boated around 20 had a great time doing so. It's been so long since I ate any I had almost forgotten how good they taste. I'm sure there will be some more of that in the weeks to come. I do run crappie trips if your interested.

Today, I got off the couch and away from the Netflix to take a couple of guys from Dothan fishing. Chris, seen below with nice reds, is on his way to Kuwait and then to Afganistan. Good luck Chris, we support you.

Those reds were caught in the pass. There are still a lot out there as always. With the warmer weather things are beginning to change. Fish are moving in and out of the bay. We caught some nice sheeps in the pass last week. Sorry no pic's, forgot the camera.
We also fished some good winter trout spots having a good time with DOA's and popping corks. I like it when everybody on the boat hooks up at the same time.

Last, soon I will be running a lot and this year you can depend on two, three or four reports a week. Check my site every few days to stay current on whats happening. I fished over 200 days last year and promise to put up even more reports than in the past.
Panama City Fishing Forecast:

Reds will continue in the pass along with some late afternoon bluefish. Although trout are catch and release during February you can still have a lot of fun fishing for them and catch a bunch on some days.
Next big thing will be the arrival of the spanish and cobia some time around mid to late March. I'm running cobia trips this year. The tower has plenty of room for two. I'm running nine hour trips for $500....that's a deal you can't pass up.
Target Species:

big reds in the pass, late winter trout and anticipation of the spanish and cobia run
