Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Last week was a good week. Lot's of fish, lot's of business. I'm blessed to have such a large group of return customers, customers that rely on my judgement as to weather there was oil here this summer or not. All in all the fishing was very good all summer, the fall should be great. Thankyou to all that fished with me this summer, hope to see you next year.
Fall ushers in cooler days and falling water temperature. As the days shorten and the water cools the fish start feeding heavier for winter. So far the fall spanish run has been great. Putting 40lbs. plus in the box just about every day. Add in a trout, red or shark here and there and you have a trip to remember.
I posted a good video of a client boating a oversized red last week on #8 line. The poons seem to be gone but other fish have replaced them.
Along with cooler temps you can look for the fishing to be really good this fall. There is bait everywhere, fish are piling into the bay and the water is clear. It's the time of the year I will trailer my little boat (18' Tracker) to Crooked Island for big trout, reds and flounder. I also start fishing for flounder which should be on a hard run by mid October. Offshore, you can get some kings and mahi mahi.
Fly fishermen....the next two months is the time to be here. No one in the area has more fly fishing experience in this area than I. I will tie, or you can tie with my recipe, flies that never fail around here. You can see a fly fishing video on my face book page..just friend me; James Pic
Here are some of the highlights of the last week, BTW...I normally wouldn't put a picture of a ladyfish on the boat but this first picture is of JD Cook holding what could be the biggest ladyfish I have ever seen.

Panama City Fishing Forecast:

Fishing should be fantastic thru October.
