Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

PANAMA CITY/NW FLORIDA
Things are getting really good. The bay has started clearing up and we are not getting as much rain as a few weeks ago. West Bay and North Bay are still tanic but the trout are biting good along with reds is you can find them. With the water clearing it is not unusual to catch 80 to 100 trout in a morning trip on artificial, lots of fish eager to bite.
I have managed to put the customers on some really good fish this week. We boated 14 reds in the last three days along with about 30 keeper trout, seven over 24 inches. Fishing is definitely getting better. There are some flounder moving into the bay and one of my charters, Randy Pinkston, was able to pull of the first (that I can remember) North Florida
grand slam on artificial; red, trout and flounder. The red was caught on an EXUDE and the other two ate DOA shrimp. Congratulations randy.
There are a lot of big spanish in the bay and some really big blues. This makes for early morning topwater fun with bubble rigs and tiny torpedoes. In some areas you have a very good chance of having an aggresive shark hit the topwater.
Bait is everywhere so that should not be a problem for anyone. If your in to artificial baits, come by the store and we will be happy to show you what the hot baits are this year. Don't forget that fall is a very good time to fish. If your looking for a charter September, October and November are very good fishing months. Not very many people and a lot of fish. For the rest of the year
I will offer a $20 discount on my 22 foot boat to anyone mentioning they saw this on my fishing report.
Offshore, snapper and grouper are still thick and this will continue. Big AJ's are on a lot of the wrecks and we are starting to hear good reports on dolphin.
We have a lot of new stuff in the store so come by and check us out if you live in town or are coming to town.
Good luck and good fishing.
JP
