Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Panama City/Northwest Florida
Not much has changed since the last report except for the water temperature. The trout and reds are definintely in the bayous, creeks and canals. On the warmer days fish are being caught on broke back Rebels, DOA Shrimp and many different types, colors and sizes of soft plastics. Of course shrimp is usually the best along with finger mullet if you can find them.
Deerpoint lake is on the draw down and the bass fishing is really good in the creeks. Due to the ease of catching these fish during the draw down the Florida Conservation Commission is asking people to throw back as many fish as possible as to not deplete the population.
Offshore, it's catch and release for snapper with some big grouper being caught.
The fishing will really crank back up during mid March. This is when we plan to stock the store with the new goods for 2004. Look for a lot of new and innovative lures this year, as always we will be on the the cutting edge and way ahead of our competion.
Duck hunting has really sucked this year and I think we can all thank Ducks Unlimited for their backwards plan and short-stopping. Maybe with this cold front moving through today and the one coming at the end of the week some birds will show up.
