Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Panama City/N.W. Florida
Sorry it's been so long but we have been really busy. This report is more for the fly fishermen today, although you can use common sense to get what you need if you like to artificial fish.
First we will go offshore where I'm getting reports of dolphin, king and boninta. Look for the dolphin around floating debris or weedlines. A clouser minnow will work and when they get tired of it just switch to another color. Schools of bonita can be spotted by looking for birds and then working fish. You will also find some spanish and kings mixed in. Around the wrecks are kings, spanish and if your lucky amberjack. Some prefer deeper presentation so don't be shy about a sink tip or sinking line. Any big colorful weighted fly will work. 2/0 to 5/0 would be the size and make sure you have a bite tippet.
In the bay I think this have been the best year in a long time for fly fishermen. Even though many don't want to catch bluefish, spanish, blue runners and ladyfish the bay is full of them ane they are ready to eat. Up on the flats trout fishing is good. Clousers and deceivers seem to work best. Reds are scattered and can be a little spooky this time of year. Easy presentation and small flies, like shrimp and crab patterns.
Fishing is really good right now. Don't waste your time with a part time guide, fish with me, I'm the best. Don't forget the fall little tunny run starts in August.
